Stocks up, Eagle Cement debuts at bourse

Stocks ended with slight gains on Monday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index closing 18.54 points higher at 7,886.03. In the broader market, advancers and decliners tied at 95 all, while 54 were unchanged. Volume reached 1.11 billion shares valued at P8.6 billion. Foreigners were net buyers as they bought a total of P3.17 billion while selling P2.49 billion worth of shares. Eagle Cement, which debuted on Monday, led the most active shares. It gained two percent to close at P15. Other active issues were Ayala Land inc up 1.5 to P40.60, Megaworld, up 1.95 percent to P4.71 and SM Prime, up 2.13 percent to P33.50. The peso lost seven centavos to finish at P49.82. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System reached $385.8 million from $432.9 million. DMS
