Stocks up, peso at P53.46:$1

Stocks closed higher on Tuesday, as the Philippine Stock Exchange index gained 46.67 points to end at 7,233.29.
In the broader market, there were 113 gainers, 73 decliners and 54 unchanged.
Volume rose to 697 million shares worth P5.06 billion from Monday's 606.5 million valued at P3.38 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, with P3.22 billion worth of shares sold while P2.82 billion worth of stocks were bought.
Most active shares were led by Metrobank, up 1.4 percent to P68.80; Ayala Land, down 1.22 percent to P36.55 and Ayala Corp., up 2.04 percent to P924
The peso closed at P53.46 against the US dollar from Monday's P53.40. Volume reached $616.4 million from $623,2 million. DMS
