Stocks up slightly, peso at P53.43:$1

The Philippine stock index gained on Monday even as most markets in Asia ended lower.
The peso closed at P53.43 against the US dollar from Friday's P53.34. Volume reached $467.85 million from $855.4 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,227.96, up 34.28 points. In the broader market, there were 116 gainers, 94 decliners and 40 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 780.2 million worth P4.8 billion compared to Friday's 750.6 million valued at P7.125 billion. Foreigners were net sellers, unloading P2.58 billion while buying amounted to P2.12 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 0.26 percent to P38; LT Group, up 0.55 percent to P18.18 and Jollibee, down 1.14 percent to P260. DMS
