Suzuki Launches Fully Revamped Jimny for 1st Time in 20 Yrs

Tokyo- Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. released on Thursday the fourth generation of its Jimny four-wheel-drive minivehicle, fully remodeled for the first time in 20 years.
The off-roader features enhanced driving performance in muddy conditions and on slopes. The automaker also improved the frame structure to bolster the body and enhance user comfort.
The first-generation Jimny hit the market in the 1970s. The vehicle has staunch fans among agricultural and forestry workers and outdoor enthusiasts.
"We want those who have never ridden a four-wheel drive to experience a new world with the Jimny," President Toshihiro Suzuki said.
The remodeled vehicle carries a sticker price starting at 1,458,000 yen. The annual sales target is 15,000 units.
Also on Thursday, Suzuki released a new model of the Jimny Sierra subcompact with an engine displacement of 1,500 cc, up from the previous version's 1,300 cc. Its price starts at 1,760,400 yen. Jiji Press
