1,283 serious accidents happen after recalls: survey

Tokyo- A total of 1,283 serious accidents have occurred in the 10 years through March 2017 in Japan due to the continued use of defective products that were subject to recalls, a government-affiliated organization has reported.
Of the accidents, two were fatal claiming six lives and 80 left 84 people severely injured, according to the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation.
In a case in Nagasaki, a humidifier caught fire 14 years after a recall notice and killed five older people.
Consumers should check latest recall information, immediately stop using products being recalled and seek advice from their retailers, manufacturers or importers on what to do with them, NITE said. Jiji Press
