Toyama- Two bullets were discovered inside an elementary school building in the city of Toyama, after a former Self-Defense Forces member wrested a gun loaded with five bullets by killing a police officer at a nearby police box and gunned down a security guard on Tuesday, it was learned on Thursday.
The attacker, Keita Shimazu, 21, is believed to have fired three shots around the school's main gate, with one of them killing the security guard, Shinichi Nakamura, 68, police sources said.
Two bullets were found in a corridor at the far end from the gate and the ceiling of a former sick room, respectively, and another, as well as the gun, were recovered near where Nakamura was lying after he was shot, according to the sources.
Classes were conducted at the school when Shimazu opened fire with the gun that he took from the assistant inspector, Kenichi Inaizumi, 46, after stabbing him more than 30 times.
Shimazu is also believed to have fired two shots around the police box. A gunshot wound was found in the left hand of Inaizumi, who died of the stab wounds, the sources said.
Although the attacker has been in critical condition since he was shot by a different police officer before his arrest, he has regained consciousness. Now he shows response to calls, according to the sources. Jiji Press
