Naha, Okinawa Pref.- Three Chinese coast guard ships briefly sailed in Japanese territorial waters around the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan, on Saturday, according to the Japan Coast Guard.
It was the first such territorial incursion by any Chinese government ship since Sunday and the 29th this year.
The Haijing 2106, Haijing 2306 and Haijing 2502 entered Japanese waters at a point north-northeast of Kubajima, one of the islands in the Senkaku chain, between 9 a.m. (midnight Friday GMT) and 9:10 a.m., according to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Naha, capital of Okinawa.
They left the waters at a location west-northwest of the island about one hour and 45 minutes later.
China claims the Japanese-administered East China Sea islands, which they call Diaoyu. Jiji Press
