35th victim confirmed in northern Kyushu deluge

SAGA- One more victim has been confirmed in the torrential rain and flooding that hit the northern part of the Kyushu southwestern Japan region this month, raising the total death toll in the disaster to 35.
The police department of Saga Prefecture said Thursday that the victim has been identified as Masashi Kojio, 89, a man from the city of Ukiha in neighboring Fukuoka Prefecture. His body was found in the Chikugo River in the town of Miyaki in Saga on Sunday.
Of the 35 victims, 32 were from Fukuoka and three from Oita Prefecture, next to Fukuoka.
The number of missing people in the deluge now stands at six, all from the city of Asakura in Fukuoka. (Jiji Press)
