Abductee Families Urge Abe to Seek U.S. Help
May 29, 2018
Tokyo- The families of Japanese citizens kidnapped by North Korean agents decades ago on Monday urged Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to seek help from the United States to bring them back home at an early date.
During a meeting with Abe, Shigeo Iizuka, head of a group of the abductees' families, said that he wants U.S. President Donald Trump to strongly demand that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un return Japanese abductees.
In response, Abe said that he will inform Trump of the importance of an early solution to the abduction issue.
"I hope that as many abductees as possible will be able to return home," Sakie Yokota, the mother of Megumi who was kidnapped in 1977 at the age of 13, told reporters after the meeting with Abe. Jiji Press
