Abe considering trip to Iran
May 24, 2019
Tokyo--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is considering a visit to Iran in June, a government official said Friday.
Abe hopes to hold direct talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in order to call for efforts to ease heightening tensions with the United States over the 2015 nuclear deal, the official said.
Abe is expected to finalize his decision on the visit after U.S. President Donald Trump indicates his stance on the issue at Japan-U.S. summit talks slated to be held in Tokyo on Monday. Jiji Press
