Abe, Kuroda discuss economy, financial markets
May 17, 2017
Tokyo- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda on Wednesday met and exchanged views on the global economy and financial markets.
The discussion between Abe and Kuroda came after the BOJ governor attended a two-day meeting of the Group of Seven finance ministers and central bank heads in Italy, which ended Saturday.
It is the first time since January for Abe and Kuroda to hold talks at the prime minister's office.
"There were no requests (from Abe) on monetary policy," Kuroda told reporters after the meeting, which lasted about an hour.
Asked whether Abe discussed Kuroda's future after his current term expires in April next year, the BOJ governor said he is not in a position to speak about such a matter. (Jiji Press)
