Abe May Attend Japan-U.S. Governors Meeting

Tokyo- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is considering attending a meeting of a forum of Japanese prefectural and U.S. state governors, to be held in Tokyo for two days from Aug. 27, it was learned on Tuesday.
Abe aims to deepen relations between the Japanese government and U.S. states in a bid to bolster the Japan-U.S. partnership further, Japanese government sources said.
Agenda items at the meeting are expected to include the creation of new industries and human resources development, the sources said.
Participants will likely include Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, former head of the U.S. National Governors Association, and Kiyoshi Ueda, governor of Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, and chief of Japan's National Governors' Association, the sources said. Jiji Press
