October 8, 2018
Kyoto- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his intention on Sunday to promote technological innovation through deregulation.
"We will do all we can to promote innovation over the coming three years," Abe said at an international forum on science and technology held in the western Japan city of Kyoto. "We will close the gap between the current systems and the ones that would help innovation."
"Amid the fourth industrial revolution, we are being led by people who achieve innovation and create unexpected revolutionary businesses," he said.
Earlier in the day, Abe attended a breakfast meeting with Tasuku Honjo, professor of Kyoto University, who won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, and others.
He also held talks with Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Oreshkin, who took part in the forum. Jiji Press
