Biarritz, France--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed hopes Sunday that Chile will ratify the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade deal at an early date, during a meeting with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.
The 11-member TPP, which Japan ratified in July last year, went into effect in December.
The two leaders, meeting in Biarritz, southwestern France, on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit, confirmed further cooperation between Japan and Chile in addressing the aging of society and advancing science and technology.
