All Nissan Infinity models to be powered by electricity
January 18, 2018
Detroit- Nissan Motor Co. President Hiroto Saikawa on Tuesday said all new models of the Infinity luxury vehicle to be launched in 2021 or later will be basically powered by electricity.
Infinity cars to hit the market in 2021 or later will either be all-electric vehicles or "e-Power" hybrid models whose engines are dedicated to generating electricity for motors, Saikawa told an automobile industry event in Detroit.
Nissan hopes to transform the Infinity into a luxury electric brand, Saikawa said, adding that more than half of all Infinity models on the new car market will be electric-powered vehicles by 2025.
"Electric vehicles will account for 40 percent of Nissan's new vehicle sales in Japan and Europe in 2022," Saikawa predicted.
In the United States, the share will be around 20 percent in 2022 and 30 pct in 2025, he said, noting a diversity of auto demand there. Jiji Press
