June 21, 2018

Shizuoka- An 18-year-old man arrested in Fujieda, Shizuoka Prefecture, earlier this week has suggested that he intended to commit a random attack on children as "revenge," investigative sources have said.

The Shizuoka prefectural police are investigating him on suspicion of an attempted murder of a nine-year-old boy, who on Tuesday was found severely wounded in his head near an elementary school in the central Japan city, the sources said.

The teen was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trespassing into the school.

The man has told the police that he was bullied when he was an elementary school student and that he conducted the attack as revenge, according to the sources.

He was also quoted as saying that he had no particular target. There were dozens of children around the attack scene.

The police suspect that the man slashed the boy in his head with a knife and also hit him on the head with a hammer, the sources said. The boy suffered skull fracture, they said. Jiji Press
