Auto, electronics unions target pay scale hikes of at least 3,000 yen
December 3, 2017
Tokyo- The Confederation of Japan Automobile Workers' Unions and the Japan Electronics & Information Union plan to demand pay scale hikes of at least 3,000 yen a month in "shunto" wage negotiations next year, informed sources said Saturday.
The groups will request pay scale hikes for the fifth straight year and demand similar hikes for the third year.
They believe continued wage increases are crucial for pulling the country fully out of deflation.
The Japan Council of Metalworkers' Unions, which comprises industry-specific unions including the auto and electric industry groups, is expected to adopt its 2018 shunto guidelines for member unions next Friday. Jiji Press
