TOKYO- The Tokyo metropolitan government and other parties, including local governments hosting venues for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, reached an agreement on Wednesday on a broad framework on how to share costs for the quadrennial events.
The accord was made at a meeting in Tokyo among top-level officials from the metropolitan government, the organizing committee for the games, the central government, seven prefectures and four ordinance-designated major cities outside Tokyo that will offer stadiums and other facilities.
The metropolitan government and the organizing committee will bear 600 billion yen each of the total costs of 1,385 billion yen estimated by them.
The central government will shoulder 150 billion yen. (Jiji Press)
