Companies forecast 0.8% inflation over next year: BOJ
December 18, 2017
Tokyo- Japanese companies predict that prices in the country will rise 0.8 percent over the coming year, in a Bank of Japan quarterly survey for December released on Monday, up 0.1 percentage point from the previous poll.
Inflation over the next three and five years was both forecast at 1.1 percent, unchanged from the September survey.
In the BOJ's "tankan" quarterly survey for December released on Friday, business sentiment improved among a wide range of industries, mainly in the manufacturing sector, which saw brisk exports.
The price survey showed that companies still have a cautious view on inflation, although Japan's economy is on a recovery trend.
