Consumer sentiment improves in September
October 3, 2017
TOKYO- Consumer sentiment in Japan rose for the first time in two months in September, a Cabinet Office survey showed Tuesday.
The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index rose 0.6 point from the previous month to 43.9, according to the survey that covered households comprising two or more members.
The rise came as consumer sentiment in the Tohoku northeastern and Hokuriku central regions recovered after being dampened by continued rain in August, according to the government agency.
All four subindexes, on overall livelihood, income growth, employment and willingness to buy durable goods, went up. Jiji Press
