Tokyo- Officials of Japan Airlines and the transport ministry denied hard in police questioning their responsibilities over the 1985 crash of a JAL jet, Jiji Press learned Saturday.
Jiji Press obtained full records on the interrogations of 16 of the 20 people whom the Gunma prefectural police suspected of professional negligence resulting in injury and death over the crash of the Boeing 747 jumbo jet, which killed 520 people.
This preceded the 33rd anniversary of Japan's worst aircraft accident, which happened on Aug. 12, 1985.
The 20 suspects were officials of JAL, the transport ministry and Boeing Co. The full records cover all suspects except four Boeing officials.
The Gunma police transferred the cases of the 20 suspects to the prosecution. But all of them escaped indictment. Jiji Press
