April 7, 2019
Tokyo--The wife of former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn has left Japan to seek French government support for him as a French citizen, the Financial Times said Sunday.
"I think the French government should do more for him," Carole Ghosn said in an interview with the British business daily. "I don't think he's had enough support and he's calling for assistance."
According the newspaper's online edition, the interview took place hours before her flight from Japan on Friday night. On Thursday, her husband was rearrested in Tokyo on fresh charges of aggravated breach of trust.
"If my husband is in detention and I'm here, I won't be useful. I'm going to France...and be more useful where I can be," she was quoted as saying. Jiji Press
