April 20, 2018
Narita, Chiba Pref.- The number of international flight passengers per day at Narita International Airport during Japan's Golden Week holiday period is seen hitting a record high for the third consecutive year, the airport's operator said Friday.
The total number of such passengers at the airport in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, between April 27 and May 6 is expected to rise 6.1 percent from the year-before result to 867,300, according to Narita International Airport Corp.
The growth reflects new routes and increased flights.
The airport operator said that popular routes among outgoing passengers include short-distance trips to Hong Kong and South Korea, and flights to Hawaii.
The number of travelers leaving Japan is expected to peak on April 28 and those entering the country on May 6, it said. Jiji Press
