Govʼt keeps economic view unchanged
September 25, 2017
TOKYO- The Japanese government kept its overall assessment of the country's economy unchanged in a monthly report released on Monday.
"The Japanese economy is on a moderate recovery," said the September report, which was compiled by the Cabinet Office and submitted to the day's meeting of relevant ministers by Economic and Fiscal Policy Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The government used this assessment for four months in a row.
The government left its assessments on most sectors, saying that private consumption is "picking up moderately" and that business investment, exports and industrial production are "picking up."
A Cabinet Office official cited a recovery in exports reflecting an improvement in shipments to other parts of Asia.
Corporate profits, firms' judgments on current business conditions and the employment situation are "improving," while consumer prices are "flat," the government said, also showing the same views as those used in the previous August report. Jiji Press
