Tokyo- The Japanese government is deferring until Friday or later a cabinet decision to set up a committee for ceremonies related to Emperor Akihito's abdication and Crown Prince Naruhito's accession to the throne next year.
"We're considering a schedule for the committee's launch and first meeting," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a press conference following a cabinet meeting Wednesday. He denied that any related decision had been made at the cabinet meeting.
On Sunday, Jiji Press reported that the government planned to decide on the establishment of the committee Wednesday. Jiji Press
