Information on Hotel Customers in Japan Compromised

Tokyo- The personal information of 325,717 foreign customers who booked accommodations at 401 hotels in Japan using websites run by Fastbooking has been compromised in a hack, the Paris-based firm said Tuesday.
The affected information included names, home and email addresses and credit card numbers.
No damage has been reported so far, according to the company that operates foreign language reservation websites on behalf of Japanese hotels.
Affected hotel operators included Prince Hotels Inc., a unit of Seibu Holdings Inc., which saw information about 124,963 guests who made reservations at 43 affiliated hotels in English, Chinese and Korean languages compromised.
Of them, the information of 66,960 guests included credit card numbers.
Prince Hotels has suspended reservations through foreign language websites, Masahiko Koyama, president of the company, told a press conference in Tokyo.
Information on guests using Japanese language booking websites has not been affected, he said.
Information about 201 guests at Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel in Tokyo has also been compromised. Jiji Press
