TOKYO- Information technology companies at home and abroad are stepping up projects to develop artificial intelligence-based smart speakers and related services, in step with the advent of the Internet of Things.
With a variety of home electronics, vehicles and other items connected in the IoT, the user-friendliness of such devices and related services holds the key to the widespread use of the networking system.
Voice-based AI technology, which understands colloquial words, enables users to operate devices by speech and use services such as online shopping and access to weather forecasts and news reports. It is drawing keen attention as easier alternative to instructions delivered via a computer keyboard or smartphone screen. Jiji Press
