Japan aims for early realization of free preschool education
June 3, 2017
Tokyo- The Japanese government showed Friday a draft of its basic economic and fiscal policy guidelines that calls for realizing free preschool education at an early date and lowering costs for higher education such as universities.
The government aims to adopt the guidelines at a cabinet meeting on June 9 after coordination with the ruling coalition led by the Liberal Democratic Party.
The draft was presented to the day's meeting of the Economic and Fiscal Policy Council, chaired by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
"The key is to improve Japan's socioeconomic productivity through investment in human resources" against the backdrop of the country's falling population, Abe said at the meeting. (Jiji Press)
