Japan backs “resolve” of US, Britain, France over strike on Syria
April 14, 2018
Osaka- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his country's support for the "resolve" of the United States, Britain and France against the use of chemical weapons on Saturday, after the three countries launched a military strike against Syria over its alleged use of such weapons.
"Our government backs the resolve of the United States, Britain and France that they will never tolerate the spread and use of chemical weapons," Abe told reporters in the western Japan city of Osaka.
"We understand that it (the attack on Syria) is a measure to prevent the situation (in Syria) from worsening further," the prime minister said.
Abe condemned the alleged use of chemical weapons against rebels by the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad as "extremely inhumane and absolutely unacceptable."
He said the government plans to hold a meeting of the National Security Council in Tokyo on Saturday evening. Jiji Press
