Japan Civil Service Exam Sees Record Share of Female Passers
August 21, 2018
Tokyo- The proportion of women who passed Japan's fiscal 2018 national civil service exam rose 0.1 percentage point from the previous year to a record 33.9 pct, the National Personnel Authority said Tuesday.
The number of successful female applicants came to 2,639. The total number of passers, including men, stood at 7,782, up by 577.
The increase in successful applicants came as the government is considering upgrading the Justice Ministry's Immigration Bureau to an agency in line with its plan to accept more foreign workers in Japan.
Some 4,200 of the exam passers will be hired after interviews starting on Wednesday at ministries and agencies. Jiji Press
