September 13, 2018
Hanoi- Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono on Wednesday conveyed to Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi concern about the recent guilty verdict against two Reuters journalists over their investigations into Rohingya people.
During the meeting with the de facto leader of Myanmar, Kono also called for creating an environment for the return of Rohingya people, a Muslim minority in the Southeast Asian country.
Suu Kyi replied that her country will work with U.N. and other organizations for their return.
Kono also met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen. Kono expressed his disappointment with the large number of invalid votes in Cambodia's lower house election in July and said Japan supports the democratization of the Southeast Asian country. Jiji Press
