Japan Criticizes Killing of Saudi Journalist
October 24, 2018
Tokyo- Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga denounced Wednesday the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate-general in Istanbul, Turkey.
"We strongly criticize the killing, due to its relationship with freedom of expression and freedom of the press," Suga, Japan's top government spokesman, told a press conference.
He added, "We hope the case will be resolved in a fair and transparent manner and will keep a watchful eye on the developments."
Suga's comments came after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested that the murder of Khashoggi was a planned operation by Saudi Arabia.
