Paris- Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito, now on an official visit to France, attended a welcome ceremony held at Les Invalides, one of historical monuments in Paris, on Tuesday.
The national anthems of Japan and France were played by a musical band, and the Crown Prince received a salute of guards of honor.
He then visited a Japanese school in Paris. When an elementary school fourth-grader made a presentation on study on water, Crown Prince Naruhito taught students about the importance of water.
"I want you to learn a lot about water," the Crown Prince said. Research on water issues is his lifework.
Later on Tuesday, Crown Prince Naruhito attended a luncheon hosted by the deputy chief of the National Assembly, the lower house of France's parliament, and delivered an eight-minute speech in French.
Noting that Japan and France have actively continued exchanges and cooperation since they established diplomatic relations 160 years ago, Crown Prince Naruhito said he hopes that the resonating souls of the people of Japan and France will keep growing stronger as an emotional bridge linking the two countries.
