Japan Crown Prince Visits High-Tech R&D Center in Grenoble

Lyon- Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito visited a research and development center for cutting-edge technologies in Grenoble in southeastern France on Monday.
At Minatec, a core facility of the Grenoble Innovation for Advanced New Technologies (GIANT), the Crown Prince inspected items made with technologies developed at the facility, including a glasses-type wearable device and a tennis racket equipped with a sensor. Minatec is one of the leading nanotechnology R&D facilities in Europe.
During his day trip to Grenoble from Lyon, Crown Prince Naruhito also interacted with Japanese researchers working at the facility and students learning Japanese at Universite Grenoble Alpes, a university in the French city.
"Be a good teacher," the Crown Prince told a male student who said he wants to become a French teacher in Japan.
Crown Prince Naruhito arrived in Lyon on Friday as the first destination of his tour of France.
After moving to Paris on Monday evening, he will attend a welcome reception and visit a Japanese school and a facility for people with disabilities on Tuesday. Jiji Press
