Japan Foreign Ministry Names Miyamoto as Russian Division Chief
June 11, 2018
Tokyo- The Japanese Foreign Ministry on Monday appointed Tetsuji Miyamoto as director of the Russian Division at its European Affairs Bureau, effective the same day, to succeed Tadaatsu Mori, who was dismissed apparently over sexual harassment.
The ministry removed Mori from the post on June 4, saying that he engaged in acts that damaged the public trust. It has not disclosed details about what he did.
Miyamoto, who was director of the Regional Policy Division at the ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, was succeeded by Naoki Takahashi, who was director of the Policy Planning Division at the Foreign Policy Bureau.
Toshihiro Aiki, deputy assistant minister at the European Affairs Bureau, concurrently served as director of the Russian Division after Mori's dismissal. The ministry relieved Aiki of his additional post on Monday. Jiji Press
