Japan hails U.S.-China trade deal

Tokyo--Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga on Thursday hailed the so-called Phase One trade agreement that was signed between the United States and China in Washington on Wednesday.
"Japan welcomes the signing as a positive step," Suga told a press conference. "We'll closely monitor developments, including effects on Japan."
"Japan hopes that the United States and China will seek to solve their problems in a constructive manner through dialogue," he added. Jiji Press
