Japan Minister to Visit Paris to Pitch Osaka’s 2025 Expo Bid

Tokyo- Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko said Tuesday he will leave Japan later in the day for a three-day visit to Paris to attend a general meeting of the Bureau International des Expositions.
At a press conference after the day's cabinet meeting, Seko said he will seek support from BIE member countries for Osaka's bid to host the 2025 World Exposition.
He also plans to meet with BIE Secretary-General Vicente Loscertales.
Besides Osaka, western Japan, Russia's Ekaterinburg and Azerbaijan's Baku are in the race to host the event.
The winner will be selected at a general meeting of the Paris-based BIE, which is in charge of overseeing world expositions. Jiji Press
