Japan not to move comfort women deal even “millimeter”: Suga
January 5, 2018
Tokyo- The Japanese government will not at all change the 2015 comfort women agreement with South Korea, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga has said.
"We'll not move the accord even a millimeter," the top government spokesman said in a television program on Thursday.
Suga also said Japan will not accept any subsequent measure planned by the administration of South Korean President Moon Jae-in regarding the bilateral deal. Moon claimed that negotiations on the deal were seriously flawed.
In December 2015, the Japanese and South Korean governments agreed to "finally and irreversibly" resolve their dispute over former comfort women in South Korea, who were forced to serve as prostitutes for Japanese troops before and during World War II. Jiji Press
