Japan OKs defense logistics pacts with Canada, France

Tokyo--Japan's parliament approved on Wednesday acquisition and cross-servicing agreements with Canada and France.
The House of Councillors, the upper chamber, passed the two pacts by a majority vote with support mainly from the ruling coalition.
The ACSAs, which will enable mutual supplies of food, fuel and other items between Japan's Self-Defense Forces and the respective militaries of Canada and France, will come into force as early as next month.
The agreements will allow the provision of ammunition and fueling during events such as drills joined by the SDF and the Canadian or French militaries.
Japan currently has bilateral ACSAs in place with the United States, Britain and Aus,
