Japan Princess Kiko Presents Anti-TB Award in Netherlands

The Hague, Netherlands- Visiting Japanese Princess Kiko on Thursday presented the Princess Chichibu Global Memorial TB Award to Muhammad Amir Khan of Pakistan at a ceremony in The Hague, the Netherlands.

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere respect to all those who make tireless efforts to help people who are suffering from tuberculosis," the princess said.

The wife of Prince Akishino, the second son of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, serves as patroness of the Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association.

The prize is given to an individual or a group that makes significant contributions to tuberculosis prevention.

It was established in 1997 to commemorate the work of the late Princess Chichibu, who served as patroness of the Japanese association for more than half a century. Jiji Press
