Tokyo--The Japanese Foreign Ministry on Thursday issued a Level 2 travel warning for the city of Wuhan in China, the epicenter of a pneumonia outbreak caused by a new strain of coronavirus.
The ministry called on Japanese nationals to avoid nonessential travel to the central Chinese city. The warning was raised from Level 1, which urges people to exercise caution.
"We will continue to work with the local government and related organizations to collect information, and to issue appropriate warnings in a timely manner," Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Akihiro Nishimura told a press conference. Jiji Press
