NEW YORK- Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and his South Korean counterpart, Kang Kyung-wha, agreed Friday to advance bilateral cooperation in the area of security.
In their 20-minute talks at the UN headquarters in New York, the two also agreed that Japan and South Korea will work closely to deal with North Korea, which is accelerating its nuclear and missile development.
The ministers are also believed to have talked about a South Korean government decision on Thursday to provide 8 million dollars in humanitarian assistance to North Korea. Jiji Press
