Tokyo--The Japanese tourism ministry will inspect operators of buses used for tourists to Japan from Wuhan in response to an epidemic of a new coronavirus spreading mainly in the Chinese city, minister Kazuyoshi Akaba said Friday.
The ministry will search for bus drivers and tour guides who have dealt with tourists from Wuhan and urge them to undergo medical checkups to learn their physical condition.
One such driver and one such guide have been infected with pneumonia caused by the coronavirus.
The inspection will cover the operators of buses used for tourism from Wuhan this month. The ministry will work to identify the bus companies through travel agencies.
Also, the ministry will urge operators of public transportation, including buses, taxis, trains and airlines, to make sure that their employees wear masks and wash their hands thoroughly to contain the infection.
The companies will be required to report confirmed infection cases promptly. Jiji Press
