Japan to Reaffirm Cooperation with China, S. Korea over North
May 7, 2018
Tokyo- Japan plans to confirm cooperation with China and South Korea in tackling North Korean issues during an upcoming three-way summit, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday.
At a press conference, Suga said that Japan "hopes to reaffirm deepening cooperation" for North Korea's disposal of its weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles, as well as for a swift resolution of abductions of Japanese nationals decades ago.
The top-level talks between Japan, China and South Korea, set to take place on Wednesday in Tokyo, will be held at a "crucial" period, soon after an inter-Korean summit and before a meeting between the leaders of the United States and North Korea, he said.
"We hope to review future-oriented cooperation between Japan, China and South Korea and take this opportunity to make a fresh start for the next decade," Suga added. Jiji Press
