New York--Japan, the United States, Australia and India held a meeting of their foreign ministers in New York on Thursday, the first such gathering among the four countries.
The participants agreed to cooperate to realize the free and open Indo-Pacific vision led by Japan and the United States and maintain a rules-based regional order.
"We'll work hard to put flesh on the Indo-Pacific vision, including the promotion of high-quality infrastructure investment," said Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
Ahead of the gathering, Motegi had a bilateral meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to exchange views on regional affairs. Jiji Press
