Japan, US, Australia, India tackle Abe’s Indo-Pacific strategy

TOKYO- Bureau-chief-level officials from Japan, the United States, Australia and India held talks in Manila on Sunday on an Indo-Pacific strategy proposed by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Japan's Foreign Ministry said the same day.
The officials confirmed cooperation in such fields as maritime security for the promotion of stability and growth in Asia and Africa based on the strategy, according to the ministry.
They also affirmed the need to maximize pressure on North Korea, which continues nuclear and missile development, agreeing to continue discussions over the reclusive country.
The Japanese government hopes to launch a strategic dialogue among leaders of the four nations by including India in the existing trilateral summit framework among Japan, the United States and Australia. Jiji Press
