Japan Voices Concern over U.S. Embassy’s Move to Jerusalem
May 14, 2018
Tokyo- Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga voiced on Monday Japan's concern over the relocation of the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which was set to take place the same day.
"We are concerned that, with the move, future affairs concerning peace in the Middle East will become increasingly hard and the situation in the Middle East as a whole will worsen," Suga told a press conference.
Suga said that the situation is tough and that is why Japan will contribute actively to building mutual trust between Israelis and Palestinians and providing opportunities for dialogue.
He indicated that the Japanese government will make efforts to mediate Middle East peace talks. Jiji Press
