Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda voiced concern over the crew of the sunken Gulf Livestock 1, where majority of its crew are Filipinos, as a strong typhoon is hampering search and rescue.
In his Tweeter post on Wednesday, Haneda said: '' Worried about Gulf Livestock 1 distress incident. Though a strong typhoon is impeding their search and rescue, Japan Coast Guard continues to make maximum efforts to save more lives. Praying for people who are still missing there.''
As of Tuesday night, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Japanese Coast Guard did not find any of the missing 40 seafarers. Three Filipinos have been rescued, but one of them was recovered dead.
The rescued Filipinos were identified as Eduardo Sareno and Jay-Nel Rosario, both from Cebu. The third Filipino has not been named.
''TheJapanese Coast Guard will resume the sea and aerial search tomorrow (Wednesday), said the DFA. DMS
