Japanese destroyer, US flattop conduct joint drills off Okinawa, Taiwan

TOKYO- The Japanese destroyer Sazanami has conducted joint drills with the US Navy's USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier and its strike group in waters around Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan, and south of Taiwan, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force said Monday.
The joint drills, conducted from Friday through Sunday in an effort to boost Japan-US defense cooperation, included dealing with submarines and air targets, the MSDF said. Jiji Press
