Japanese Journalist Kishii, Mainichi Special Writer, Dies

Tokyo- Prominent Japanese journalist Shigetada Kishii, a special senior writer at major daily publisher Mainichi Newspapers Co., died of pulmonary adenocarcinoma at his home in Tokyo on Tuesday. He was 73.
Kishii joined Mainichi Newspapers in 1967. He worked as a correspondent in Washington, chief editor in the political news department and chief editorial writer.
After serving as editor-in-chief for about three years from 2010, Kishii was given the current assignment in April 2013.
He appeared in many television programs as a commentator, including Sunday Morning, a news program of Tokyo Broadcasting System Television Inc.
From 2013 to 2016, he assumed the role of anchor in News 23 of TBS.
In 2014, Kishii was awarded the Hashida prize, given to outstanding TV programs or personalities. Jiji Press
